The Purple Crocodile

Deep in the jungle, far away,
where waters shimmer, cool and gray,
there rests upon a stone so still
a wondrous purple crocodile.

Its armored skin, a violet glow,
like twilight’s touch in evening’s flow.
With golden eyes so sharp and bright,
it watches all, yet hides from sight.

No beast dares step too near its place,
too strange, too grand, a ghostly grace.
Too rare, too wild, a whispered tale,
a silent king in scales so pale.

But when it moves, so slow, so sleek,
it glides without a sound to speak.
A shadow drifting on the stream,
a secret lost within a dream.

And when the night drapes sky and trees,
as jungle whispers ride the breeze,
the world still wonders, hushed and mild,
about the purple crocodile.
